SAIC Yanfeng Revolutionizes QC Gauge Production with INTAMSYS 3D Printing

SAIC Yanfeng, a preferred partner of major automotive brands like SAIC General Motor and SAIC Volkswagen, employs over 17,000 staff across 52 facilities nationwide. The company specializes in automotive seating manufacturing, where QC gauges play a crucial role in ensuring product quality and standardization.

The traditional machining processes used to develop and manufacture QC gauges were costly and time-consuming. The high level of customization required for gauges, coupled with low production volumes, further increased expenses. Additionally, the manual fixing of control units to the base structure of gauges often resulted in low precision and reduced productivity.

Leveraging INTAMSYS FUNMAT HT 3D Printer

SAIC Yanfeng adopted INTAMSYS FUNMAT HT 3D Printer to manufacture the functional size control units of their gauges. The use of industrial-grade polycarbonate (PC) material ensured durability and strength. The 3D printer's high position accuracy (X/Y: 12.5μm, Z: 1.25μm) enabled the creation of a unibody structure for the control units, enhancing precision and efficiency.

The transition to 3D printing was seamless for SAIC Yanfeng. The control units, with dimensions of 198 x 113 x 110 mm, were 3D printed in just two days. This rapid production process significantly reduced the time required for gauge development and manufacturing.
